In this episode, Dave and Andrew address one of the most controversial awards in Pulitzer history. What happened in 1992 and was Wayne Peterson's music worthy of the ruckus that grew around it?

Wayne Peterson: What a find. A wildly prodigious and stunning piece. Grateful to discover the recording which I had overlooked—even as a fan of The Boston Modern Orchestra Project). In addition to the influences you mention, I would add an important one. Its swirling, kaleidoscopic atmosphere brings to mind the faster sections of Elliott Carter’s Concerto for Orchestra. The Carter is fantastically cataclysmic while the Peterson is lighter, almost giddy. Will buy the score.
